It was a bright and sunny day (in contrast to the dark and stormy ones we had been having). On July 10th the New York Early Birds gathered at the home of Dave and Nancy Uber for our first “Fourth of July” picnic since July 2019. It was so good to see each other again and catch up on time lost. Attendees were the Emptages, Kathy Gibson and Tom Willetts, the Vennes, Ciejkas, Pollacks, Knapps and Lou Dahoda and Dorothy Gaydos.
Dave and Nancy had been busy in that lost year rebuilding their deck. It is a 19 X 24 foot Trex “Foggy Warf” (light grey) expanse with a second tier 8 X 20 foot stamped concrete area for cooking and sunning (Darcy took advantage of that to get some rays while they were here). Shade was provided by a very large awning and most members gathered there for appetizers, cool drinks and animated conversation.
Grill masters, Dave and Nancy set about preparing the feast as dishes to share were brought to the serving table. A feast it was, rivaling any before. After all were thoroughly full and talked out, members meandered to their Birds to travel home with hugs for all especially our hosts.
Many thanks are due to the Ubers for sharing their beautiful home for another memorable time for the New York Early Birds!
