Event: Scenic cruise around Sacandaga Lake to dinner at Lanzi’s
Fall Foliage Ride Recap:
After rescheduling this event from the previous week, we were delighted that Sunday, October 15th dawned sunny and warm. Around 1:30 Jeff and Barbara Emptage in their Flame Red ‘57, and Kathleen Gibson and Tom Willetts also in their Flame Red ‘57 arrived at Bob and Mary Anne Pollack’s home, ready to go leaf peeping. The Pollacks’ Peacock Blue ’56 led the way north to begin the ride. Twenty minutes into the drive the group picked up Bill and Karen York in their Raven Black ‘55 and shortly all arrived at the Water Wheel on Rte. 29 for a quick stop to look through the old country store for their homemade cheese and other goodies. Already there and waiting to join the ride were Tony and Corinne Scirocco in their Yellow ’57 (with the top down, it was that kind of day). Over the hills and through the colorful woods we wandered, around Sacandaga Lake arriving at our destination, Lanzi’s On The Lake. We parked on their side lawn away from the pine trees and dirt road, a perfect spot for pictures. Because the day was so delightful and we knew that dining outdoors would be limited in these cooling days of Fall, we opted for a table on the deck with a spectacular view of the lake. To our delight, the waiter informed us that a drink of our choice was on the house. Our good fortune was due to the close friendship of Corinne with the owners’ sister! The food, as always, was delicious and two hours passed in a heartbeat. With the daylight fading and miles to go we said farewell and headed home.
